Colour Dare #183

I've been making time for my craft room lately and have been on a card roll!!  I've been using up scraps and looking through sketch books and old catalogs.  For this next card I was originally inspired by a card on page 102 of the Spring/Summer 2013 idea book from CTMH.  I knew I wanted it to be a mothers day card though.  I saw the colours on this weeks Colour Dare and thought I would incorporate the two.  So here's my card:

I used a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card as my base.  Retired Confetti wishes as the backdrop.  The flowers are inked in thistle and honey and there's a bit of bling on the center of them.  The sentiment is stamped in pear.  Quick, simple card.  My favourite!!  :)

On a Card Roll!!

I've spent the past few days making cards.  With a craft fair coming up in April, I wanted to refresh my stash and also it's a great excuse to get in my craft room and play!!  I've been looking through my sketch books and digging through my paper stash.  Now, I'm nowhere seeing the end of my scrap paper, but it's a start.  It's a great way to mix and match and see what I've been hoarding.  ;)  So here is what I've made so far.  I plan to do more Mothers Day cards, and also work on Fathers Day cards as well.

Most of these cards use CTMH paper.  If I see a sketch that speaks to me, then I make that card right away while the vision of the card is still clear.

Thanks for looking!!  Now I have to go back to being a mommy and trying to get my son to clean his room.  :p  Wish me luck!!  ;)

AHSC #149

With Mother's Day right around the corner, I wanted to start making some cards.  I'm participating in a craft fair later in April, and I want to have some cards available.  I saw this sketch at Atlantic Hearts, and almost immediately I envisioned the card in my head.  I used the stamp set Mother's Day Occasions (retired), and some retired Chantilly and For Always paper. So here's the sketch:

Here is what I came up with:

What's a card without a little bling??!!  :)  Inside is stamped "Happy Mothers Day" in the same topiary green.

Colour Dare #182

I saw the colours for this weeks colour challenge, and thought I would give it a go.  Over the weekend, I had a couple of friends over to make cards, and we used Roar! (retired).  I decided to use this stamp set, but make a more girly card because girls love dinosaurs too!!  :)  Here is my card:

The background is stamped in Lagoon ink, the mats are in Sorbet and the dinos were stamped in Hollyhock.  I also stamped "Hope your day is dino-mite" inside in Hollyhock.  This took me all of about 5 minutes, and I think I shall make a bunch of these in different colour combos.  :)

I'm feeling accomplished!!

So, I have been scrapbooking and making cards for 15 or so years, but haven't got much of my own scrapbooking done.  I have completed my daughters 1st year scrapbook, and still working on my son's first year (he's almost 6 now).  I have not tackled trying to scrapbook anything else because I really didn't know where to start, or how far back I want to go.  I have pictures I took when I was a kid all the way to now.  It's overwhelming, seeing all the photos and not knowing where or how to start.  I also have a bin full of layouts I have completed over the years just waiting for pictures.  What to do, where to start??!!  I have also been purchasing (cause that's what I need is more stuff  ;) ), some PML programs from CTMH.  So a few weeks ago, I decided I was just going to start.  Pick a year and go!!  And this is what I want to show you.  I chose the year 2014.  The album isn't completed yet, there's still some journaling and a few more pages to add, but I am feeling great about it!!  I love the pocket scrapbooking/project life stuff I see these days.  My plan is to combine both the project life and traditional scrapbooking, and I think I've succeeded!!  So here's what I have so far for 2014:

Ayla learned to ski.

We went to Vegas.  I need/want to buy or make a card for that blank area.  Also, since I have so many pictures of Vegas, I think I will add another page.

Damon's 4th birthday.

August was a huge picture month.  Every year in August our town has a Fall Fair, and we also went on a road trip and went to the beach.  It was such an awesome vacation!!

I also plan on doing a scrapbook page for our cattle roundup that we do every October.

That's it for now!!  But I'm basically done!!  It feels great!!  Next I'll focus on 2013.  :)
